At the Microbiome Times Partnering Forum, Arno Bouwens, R&D Director at Perseus Biomics, took to the stage to present their technology, DynaMAP (Dynamic Microbiome Abundance Profiling), for high-resolution microbiome analysis. His talk, titled “DynaMAP – Precision Metagenomics beyond Sequencing,” spotlighted how their next-generation optical mapping technology overcomes the limitations of traditional sequencing through long DNA extraction, high-density fluorescent labeling, and advanced computational mapping.
Bouwens detailed how DynaMAP combines high sensitivity with minimal bias, enabling accurate profiling of microbial communities in complex samples—without the need for amplification or library preparation. Applications range from precision microbiome research to clinical diagnostics, where strain-level resolution is critical for understanding host-microbe dynamics and guiding therapeutic strategies.
The presentation showcased DynaMAP’s performance benchmarks against existing platforms, highlighting its resolution, sensitivity, and rapid time-to-result. Bouwens closed by unveiling MetaMAP for the first time, a compact, lab-ready device powered by DynaMAP technology. Designed to bring high-resolution microbiome profiling directly to the bench, MetaMAP represents a major step toward making microbiome data more accessible and actionable in both research and clinical settings.
