SUMMARY:India|EMBO Symposium – Human microbiome: Resistance and disease
DESCRIPTION:The importance of Human Microbiome research is rapidly gaining momentum for understanding its role in human health and disease. This requires specialized training in efficient statistical and computational algorithms to analyse the big data generated from high-throughput sequencing platforms and provide valid inferences. The field of microbiome research has witnessed an upsurge of various statistical and bioinformatics methods and softwares without adequate manpower trained in proper usage of such tools. Thus\, microbiome studies run the danger of identifying spurious associations in patient cohorts with little biological implications for prediction\, prognostication and therapy. The present India|EMBO Symposium\, organised by Karen Nelson\, Indresh Singh\, Harinder Singh from JCVI and Souvik Mukherjee and Partha P Majumder from NIBMG\, will cover topics related to recent advancements in human microbiome sequencing\, antimicrobial resistance\, clinical metagenomics\, model based analysis of human microbiome\, metatranscriptomics and metaproteomics approaches. This India|EMBO Symposium will also include a satellite workshop on metagenomic data analysis and visualization. The present symposium is a timely step in addressing these relevant topics which will help in the development of a multi-dimensional host-microbiome research environment in India.

SUMMARY:3rd Microbiome Movement – Human Nutrition Summit
DESCRIPTION:As researchers continue to uncover the power of the human microbiome to improve health and wellbeing across a diverse list of indications and product applications\, the 3rd Microbiome Movement – Human Nutrition Summit proudly returns to Boston as the only meeting that carefully combines cutting-edge basic and clinical science with product developers from the global food\, supplement and nutraceutical industry to help develop a new generation of nutritional solutions that target and modulate the human microbiome to promote long-term human health. \nAcross a comprehensive three day program\, this year’s Microbiome Movement – Human Nutrition Summit will continue to address three key topic areas: \n\nBetter demonstrate the scientific and clinical efficacy of diet-microbiome interactions across a diverse range of health indications and mechanisms\n\n2. Learn how start-ups\, academics and leading nutritional brands are overcoming critical clinical\, regulatory and commercialization challenges when utilizing microbiome science to drive the development of personalized nutritional solutions \n3. See how microbiome experts are establishing brands that engage their target market\, to better communicate the benefits of microbiome research and help differentiate their products from competitors
